Turn a home project into a clear enquiry

A useful enquiry tells a business what you want to achieve and what you already know. It does not need a technical diagnosis. “Replace the damaged kitchen tap” and “investigate water appearing under the sink” are different requests, even if they concern the same place.

Separate observations from assumptions

Write down what you can see, when you noticed it and which rooms or items are affected. If you do not know the cause, leave that open. A professional may need an inspection before defining the work. For planned improvements, describe the intended result and the items that should stay as they are.

Define the boundary of the job

List the tasks you want included and any work you have already arranged. For a room refresh, for example, moving furniture, preparing surfaces, supplying materials and disposing of waste may be separate responsibilities. If another trade is involved, explain who is coordinating the sequence.

Give enough location and access information

A town or area is enough for an initial service-area check. Tell the business about relevant access constraints, such as a flat above ground level, limited delivery space or a room that must remain usable. Share a precise address and security arrangements directly with a business when necessary; do not publish access codes or private documents in a directory enquiry.

Use timing as a question

State your preferred period and any fixed deadline, then ask what is realistic. Material lead times, inspection, preparation and drying or curing can affect the sequence. A business’s listed opening hours are not a promise of an appointment or emergency response.

Make the first reply easier to compare

Ask whether the business handles the work, covers the area, needs a site visit and charges for diagnosis or a quotation. Keep the same initial brief for every business so you can identify differences in their assumptions. Do not treat an estimate based on a short description as a confirmed scope or final price.

The project planner turns these points into a plain-text enquiry with trade-specific questions. It runs in your browser; copying the result does not send it to a business or create a booking.

About this guide

Prepared by the G4Trades directory team at Progressive Works Teknoloji Limited Şirketi. It explains how to organize an enquiry and use listing information; it does not claim an inspection of a business or replace professional advice about a particular job.
