Compare quotes by scope, not only price
Two prices can describe very different jobs. Before comparing the totals, check that each business is quoting for the same outcome, areas and responsibilities. A short price message may leave important assumptions unstated.
Put the work side by side
Make a list of the tasks in your original brief and mark where each quotation includes, excludes or leaves a task unclear. Preparation, protection of existing finishes, access equipment, waste removal and making good are useful questions. An omission is a question for the business, not proof that the work is included free of charge.
Check materials and quantities
Ask who supplies the materials and what specification the price assumes. A phrase such as “standard finish” may mean different things to different businesses. If you are supplying an item, confirm compatibility, measurements, delivery and who handles missing or damaged parts before the work is scheduled.
Understand the pricing basis
A fixed price for a defined scope, an estimate, a day rate and a diagnostic visit are different arrangements. Ask what the amount covers, which charges may be additional and when the business will seek your approval. A directory rating or price band cannot answer those questions.
Agree how changes will be handled
Work may uncover conditions that were not visible at the quotation stage. Ask how the business will explain the finding, propose alternatives and record your approval before extending the scope. Keep revisions alongside the original brief so that a changed total can be understood.
Compare timing and handover
Ask about the expected start, duration, interruptions and dependencies on other trades. Clarify what completion means: cleanup, demonstration, inspection or any relevant documents. Confirm any offered aftercare directly and keep the written details.
Use the directory for the shortlist
G4Trades helps locate businesses and compare recorded profile information. It does not inspect quotations, verify qualifications, rank prices or decide which offer you should accept. Use the profile comparison guide to separate directory evidence from details that require a direct answer.
About this guide
Prepared by the G4Trades directory team at Progressive Works Teknoloji Limited Şirketi. It explains how to organize an enquiry and use listing information; it does not claim an inspection of a business or replace professional advice about a particular job.
